Not long ago, I was right where you are ... on the outside looking in at many different business opportunities. Which one was right for me I wondered? How can I know if what I am looking at is real? What really is the product? What kind of people are doing this business?

After talking to person after person who was pitching me on their business, I realized that most of them were saying the same thing about their business, and not giving much real information. Many of them would expect me to pull out my credit card after listening to a 20 minute teleconference and then answering my questions with what I could tell were short calculated answers. Does anybody actually have anything in writing about their business other than sales literature, I wondered? Would anybody actually let me come see what they were doing every day in their businesses. I wasn't asking them if I could come to their homes. I was asking if I could just listen to their training and support calls. I was also SAMPLING products. Any business that would not let me sample, I moved on.

Even though there seemed to be thousands of opportunities out there, after a couple of months of research, the list was starting to get smaller. And everyone calling me to follow up wanted quick decisions. Their time was too valuable to even answer my questions (this was surely going to be my experience with them after signing up I figured). Their answer was always something like, "Well Jim, I've been making all of this money doing this, and I just got started after a quick conversation when I first saw this. You'll get all the training and help you need once you get started, I can assure you that. How are you going to be paying for your ...". Wow I used to think, when I owned traditional (brick and mortar) businesses, I NEVER told a customer anything like that. In corporate America you would be laughed out the room with that approach. I was expecting more. I actually stopped looking for a while.

A month or so later I resumed my search. I found a company that had a powerful compensation plan (like ours) but they were very elusive about just about everything. Still, my circumstances dictated that I get started with something. I needed income, and I needed it yesterday! So I was actually going to go forward with it. I was uncomfortable though. These guys had been pushy with me, and I started to realize that I wasn't that kind of person, and therefore did not think I could duplicate what they were doing. They really had not answered my questions satisfactorily, either. They would not let me see anything about their product (but said I could return it in 72 hours if I wanted to). They would not let me attend any of the training calls to see what was being taught, or who was doing the business. So the very day I had told them I was going to be sending them my check, I went out on the Internet to learn more about them.

I ran into an ad that was placed by the person that turned out to me by director in this business. When I first saw his presentation, I was captured by the flash movie, the quality of the marketing piece. But more importantly, when I called him, he spent time with me on the phone to explain things, he showed me the actual product, and then invited me in to see some training. That was it! This is what I was looking for.

And it has turned out to be more than a dream actually.
